Support for new initiatives
Via its Accelerate social enterprise, Community First also provides hands-on assistance to community organisations (such as parish councils, schools, voluntary organisations and transport interest groups) wanting to establish new Community Transport initiatives.
The type of support available for community groups wanting to set up new Community Transport initiatives includes:
•Help with assessing local transport needs
•Committee set-up support and Charity registration (if required)
•Funding advice including help with applying to the Wiltshire Community Transport Development Fund
Support for established Community Transport schemes
Via its Accelerate social enterprise, Community First also provides support to established Community Transport schemes (such as community minibus schemes and Link schemes) wanting to expand their services (for instance by running new passenger services).
The type of support available to local established Community Transport schemes looking to expand includes:
• Enterprise training on areas including V.A.T. registration, contract pricing and development of Community Transport passenger services
• Development of a Community Transport ‘Good Practice Guide’ covering all areas associated with running and developing Community Transport services such as governance, transport operations, personnel and finance and funding.
• Assistance with registering ‘Section 22’ Community Bus services for the general public (Route registration, timetable design, fare structuring and BSOG registration). For more information see section-22-advert.gif115.84 KB
Community First’s Accelerate social enterprise is funded by Wiltshire Council and through income which Community First earns.
