Stores is the Core is a programme designed specifically to support village and rural retailers; ‘helping them thrive’. The programme which was first piloted in 2008 has helped many retailers across the South West region with dedicated retail and business advice, support and training. Our last three year programme which finished at the end of December 2013 has been a great success supporting over 200 retailers with advice, support and training. As a result, the shops we worked with, have seen an average sales uplift of nearly 10%. We have also had great feedback: These comments were made by retailers following an independent evaluation:
‘SitC has helped to ‘move the business forward’ and ‘increase current viability’
‘Our sales are up 30% in the first 4 months…’
‘Brilliant independent advice’
‘It was a very worthwhile investment of my time’
Unfortunately due to funding constraints we are currently unable to offer any free advice but happy to speak to retailers or local authorities and enterprise partnerships about how we can support you on a fee paying basis. What is FREE however is the range of resources available through this website.
As a legacy to the last programme we have brought together a range of good practice training guides, films and case studies for you to access, download and use. A fitting resource to help drive village retailing forward and ensure village shops remain the beating heart of rural communities.
