Application Process

You can apply for a vacancy in a variety of ways. These include an electronic application and requesting a paper application pack from Sally Hoddinott. The information in the paper application pack is identical to that on the website. 

You can download an application form from the Vacancies page of the website and begin completing your details. This can then be emailed to shoddinott@communityfirst.org.uk.

The further information section at the end of the form is your opportunity to give us additional information to support your application and show that you meet the requirements. This information will be used to assess your skills and experience against the criteria detailed in the job description and person specification - so read these carefully so that you fully understand the job before telling us why you want it. 


Short-listing involves the Interview Team reviewing each application against the criteria in the job description and person specification. Applications are reviewed on their own merits. If you are successful at this stage you will be sent an invitation to interview, detailing the date, time and location of your interview. If you are invited, please ensure that you read the letter thoroughly.

We will to contact every applicant with the outcome of their application. Please don't let this deter you from applying again in the future. For feedback on why your application was not short-listed you should contact Human Resources in the first instance.


Short-listed candidates will be invited to a formal interview. This will normally involve an interview panel consisting of at least two Community First employees who will review your skills and experience against the job description and person specification using a series of questions. 

For some posts you may be asked to make a presentation or sit a computer test. If this is the case you will be notified in your invitation. 

To prepare for the interview, please read the job description and person specification and any supporting information provided carefully. If you are successful at this stage you will be sent a letter detailing an offer of employment subject to us completing satisfactory employment checks.
