Gift Aid
In April 2000 the Government brought in new legislation regarding individual
donations to charities. This means if you are a UK tax payer, your donation
to Community First can be worth even more by signing a Gift Aid Declaration.
Community First can then claim the tax back on your donation at no extra
cost to you.
What is Gift Aid?
It is tax relief for single or multiple cash gifts made to UK charities
by UK residents. There is no upper limit to the amount you can give in
each tax year. Gift Aid tax relief is intended for outright gifts, not
for payments to buy goods and services for you or your family. Also payments
that have already received tax relief cannot be Gift Aid payments e.g.
under a Payroll Giving scheme or by charity voucher.
How does it work?
For every pound you donate to the charity, the charity can claim 28p back
from the Inland Revenue at no additional cost to yourself. For example
a £10 donation from you will be worth £12.80 to the charity
under gift aid. All you need is to complete a Gift Aid declaration and
the charity will do the rest.
What do I need to do?
Complete the Gift
Aid Declaration Form when you give your donation and we will
do the rest.
Cancellation of Gift Aid Declaration
You are entitled to cancel your declaration at any time, please notify
us in writing at Community First, Wyndhams, St Joseph’s Place, Devizes
SN10 1DD.
Please Note: We can only claim Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer.
