Community Transport Small Grants Fund PDF Print E-mail

The Community Transport Small Grants Fund is for new or improved community transport initiatives and other measures which have a lasting effect on improving access to services and facilities in Wiltshire and Swindon. Grants are available up to £1,000.

Funded by Wiltshire Council, the fund supports local community projects which help people without access to transport to get around.

Projects are invited to apply that either:

- Improve the service, facilities, equipment or running of existing community-based transport or

- Develop new initiatives that would have a lasting effect on enabling local people to better access the services and facilities they need or vice versa

Grants can be made for capital or revenue items or both but not for ongoing running costs of an existing project.

Projects up to the value of £250 can apply for 100% of the cost of a project from the fund. (Applications over £250 will need to contribute 25% of the value of a project - eligible "match funding" includes support from own funds, other grants or "in-kind" contributions.)

If you have a project up to £1,000 in value which meets the broad objectives below, you would be welcome to apply to the fund.

Examples of projects include:

  • Development of new transport services which can become self-sustaining
  • Minibus equipment
  • Community minibus schemes that offer new/improved services
  • Training of minibus drivers through accredited schemes.
  • Publicity to advertise community transport services
  • Costs towards mobile services and/or facilities which bring services closer to people (e.g. internet services)
  • Research of local transport needs
  • Contributory costs of recruiting volunteers/staff
