Wiltshire and Swindon Community Transport Association PDF Print E-mail

The Wiltshire and Swindon Community Transport Association (W&SCTA) is an umbrella support body which represents the interests of most community minibus groups across Wiltshire and Swindon.

The W&SCTA provides an active mutual support, information and advice forum for local community minibus groups to share operational experience and best practice, to access expert, practical advice and information about community minibus operations and new developments affecting the local community minibus scene.

The Association is driven and managed by its membership.

The Aims

The aims of the W&SCTA are simple:

  • To provide a friendly and mutual supportive forum in which representatives of community minibus groups can come together to share information and experience, to learn of new initiatives, to access practical advice and to make useful contacts and create new friendships.
  • To provide a forum for the sharing and understanding of wide ranging community minibus operational issues - legislation, finance, training, volunteers, insurance, maintenance etc.
  • To provide an influential voice for community transport in Wiltshire and Swindon and to promote and encourage community transport as a vital element in local transport planning.

  Members' Benefits

  • Access to a wide network of experienced community minibus operators who are able to provide practical experience and expertise in many aspects of setting up and funding, managing and operating a community-based minibus scheme.
  • Access to operational assistance such as training and joint purchasing arrangements.
  • Information about and access to funding channels and grant schemes.
  • Membership of the Mutual Rescue Scheme – a scheme which works by members assisting each other if their vehicles break down.

The W&SCTA is supported by Community First and works in partnership with Wiltshire Council.
