Congratulations to Community First Young Listeners who were nominated for the Children & Young People Now Awards 2016 in the Youth Volunteering & Social Action category.

The awards ceremony took place in London on 24th November with our Young Listeners who were shortlisted for their project ‘Listen Up Wiltshire’ a programme commissioned and delivered in partnership with Healthwatch Wiltshire.

Healthwatch Wiltshire is an organisation that gives a voice to people in Wiltshire around the services that they receive in Health and Social Care.

Community First’s Young Listeners are a group of young people who have donated over 600 hours talking to 174 young people to understand how they feel about health & social care services.

The volunteers talked to young people about their experiences such as being a young carer, experiences surrounding specialist educational needs and disabilities, mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Alex Neale, Community Organiser from Community First, said:

“We are so proud of the work achieved by all of our Young Listeners. They made every day working on the project, exciting and gave so much energy, commitment, and empathy to everyone that shared their stories with them.”
