Summary:

HRH the Duchess of Cornwall who is Patron of Community First attended the Youth Action Wiltshire annual Carols by Candlelight Service on 14th December 2018 at Malmesbury Abbey along with Ben Miller, Sheila Hancock, Mike D’Abo, James Gray MP and a host of fantastic musicians and singers.  Youth Action Wiltshire is the youth arm of Wiltshire Charity Community First.  Youth Action Wiltshire celebrated its 70th anniversary year during 2018.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall last night attended the Youth Action Wiltshire Annual Carols by Candlelight Service at Malmesbury Abbey to recognise and celebrate 70 years of Youth Action Wiltshire.  On arrival HRH met committee and staff members from Community First before the service commenced, with a fantastic solo by a young Carer who currently accesses Youth Action Wiltshire’s services.  The 14-year old’s voice was amazing and wowed the congregation from the start.

Along with the lighting of the candles the atmosphere was set for what was a most enjoyable, intimate service in the gorgeous Abbey at Malmesbury. Humorous and festive readings from a host of well-known personalities were performed including Ben Miller, Sheila Hancock and James Gray MP as well as a reading from HRH and another beneficiary of Youth Actions Wiltshire’s services.

Fantastic musical recitals and solo performances were enjoyed from Mike D’Abo, internationally acclaimed classical trumpeter Crispian Steele-Perkins, Mezzo-Soprano Rosie Clifford and Tenor Alex Haigh.  HRH The Duchess of Cornwall met the performers after the service and praised them on their performances and thanked staff for the work that they do and the life lines they provide to young people across the county.  HRH The Duchess of Cornwall is the patron of Community First of which Youth Action Wiltshire is the youth arm and was keen to show her support and mark the end of the 70th anniversary celebrations.  As HRH left the Abbey she was presented with a posy and wished a Merry Christmas.
