Community First, in partnership with Wiltshire Association of Local Councils and Zurich Municipal Insurance Company, offers a group insurance scheme to smaller Parish Councils in Wiltshire, Devon, Dorset and Gloucestershire at a special discounted rate. Parish Councils must be members of their County Association to benefit from the scheme.

The summary of insurance is as follows:

Standard cover – available at a fixed premium
All risks cover for office contents (Clerks home only) - sum insured £2500
All risks cover for computer reinstatement of lost data – sum insured £500
Employer’s liability (Clerk only) – sum insured £10 million
Public liability (excluding playgrounds) – sum insured £5 million
Personal accident (members and clerk only) – capital benefit £20,000, weekly benefit £25
Fidelity guarantee – sum insured £12,000

Optional extras to standard cover
Additional employer’s liability (for employees other than the parish clerk) – sum insured £10 million
Playground liability – sum insured £5 million
Libel and slander – sum insured £250,000
Money cover – please see summary of cover for details
Property: street furniture – ‘all risks’ cover or ‘impact only’ cover both available
Material damage – building cover
Raise fidelity guarantee – please see proposal form for details

Special Events Cover
Public liability cover for special events organised by the Parish Council is available at an extra premium. Please be aware that we can only indemnify the Parish Council for events that it is organising and responsible for. Any separate legal entities, such as a playing field or village hall committees, must take out their own cover.

In all cases, a special events form must be completed and returned before a quote can be provided. This is because all events can differ slightly and so attract different premiums. The following list gives an idea of some standard premiums, but may be subject to change according to the details of your event:

Fetes (assuming no hazardous activities)
Less than 500 attendees                £35
500 – 1000 attendees                     £50
More than 1000 attendees             £75

Bonfires and Fireworks Displays
Up to 250 attendees                        £90
Up to 500 attendees                        £150
Up to 1000 attendees                      £250
Over 1000 attendees                       Refer

Please note that these premiums are a guide only and are exclusive of Insurance Premium Tax and admin fee.
