Fund Criteria
As for Community Grants, with the addition of the following:
- Grants up to £2,000
- For grants up to £501, the maximum grant can be 100% of costs:
for grants above £500, the maximum grant can be 75% of costs.
In this case the 25% may not include other funds from WRTP or Countryside
Agency schemes.
- A condition of the award of grants over £500, is that an applicant
must join the Wiltshire and Swindon Community Transport Association.
The annual fee is £10. Add this to your application and it will
be included in any grant awarded.
- For capital or revenue, or a combination of both, but not solely for
on-going running costs of an existing project.
Provide a new or improved transport service or facility, mainly for the
benefit of people living in rural areas of Wiltshire and Swindon (population
of 20,000 or less).
Typical projects might include:
- Weekly minibus service for young people in rural areas to access leisure
centres or youth groups
- Safety belts for people or wheelchairs in minibuses
- Wheelchair lifts in minibuses or new signage on minibuses
- Community car schemes where a community buys a car for hire
- Car pools
- Research for local transport needs
- Cycle stands e.g. at bus and train stations (where applicant is a
community group)
- Introduction of new transport schemes or improvement of existing ones
that make it easier for people to reach services and facilities
- Moped or bicycle loan schemes (to enable people to attend traning,
interviews or jobs)
- “Walking Bus” schemes (including cost of tabards
and publicity for scheme and recruitment of volunteers)
- Cycle routes to work or school, employer cycle schemes, cycle use
promotion
- Community bus schemes that offer services, activities or advice
- Minibus brokerage schemes where owners of a minibus make arrangements
for other groups to hire their minibus when it is not in use (thus assisting
with running and capital depreciation costs)
- Car sharing schemes
- Volunteer drivers (to obtain prescriptions) schemes
- Training of minibus drivers by accredited organisations
e.g. Midas. Please check with your adviser before applying
- The creation of all-weather footpaths away
from roads to enable people to access amenities safely (not
maintenance)
- Pilot transport schemes
- Existing transport schemes that have a crisis where evidence can be
provided that a plan is in place to provide a sustainable future
