Young people ‘listening’ training has a big impact
The Community First Community Organiser Team has provided a weekend training session to young people aged between 16 and 18 in ‘listening’ techniques.
The Healthwatch Wiltshire Young Listeners project was set up to listen to young people’s voices in Wiltshire and ensure that they are heard. The project aims to listen to young people’s experience of healthcare in Wiltshire – as well as training the young people to become effective listeners themselves.
The weekend workshop used a variety of the workshops and techniques in order to help young people understand that they might need to listen to a variety of viewpoints – and used open questioning in order to gather useful information. Going forward – they will be supported by Community First’s Community Organisers to gather information and to report back to Healthwatch Wiltshire.
