Free training for unpaid carers hosted by Wiltshire Council

by | May 2, 2024

Last year a survey went out to unpaid carers by Carer Support Wiltshire to find out what unpaid carers would like to be trained on. Following the survey, Wiltshire Council is offering a range of FREE training to support unpaid carers and deliver training in areas requested from the survey.

The first round of face to face training will be held on 20th June 2024 in Melksham Community Campus – with the following training sessions and times:

  • Stress awareness training 10am-11:00am
  • First aid training 11:30am-12:30pm
  • Mental capacity act training 13:00pm-14:00pm
  • Manual handling training 14:30pm-15:30pm

This training is for carers of all ages. You can book on to all of these or just the ones you are interested in.

There are also a wide range of courses available to you, that you can start anytime, such as training on Autism, Dementia, building Personal Resilience, and understanding the Mental Capacity Act. These courses are designed to be flexible and fit around your schedule, so you can learn at your own pace.

These courses also include access to the care certificate designed to ensure everyone has the introductory skills, knowledge, and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe, and high-quality care and support. The eLearning format makes it quicker and more precise to complete.

To gain access to these course and have a look at what’s available please contact BCFTeam@wiltshire.gov.uk with your name and email address. Details will then be sent on how to access the system and your individual log in details.

More face to face training is coming in different areas of Wiltshire so please keep an eye out for more information.

If you are an unpaid carer in Wiltshire, you can also access support through Carers Together Wiltshire.
