Volunteers travel just under 1 million miles for Link.

by | Sep 10, 2016 | Community Development, News

Isn’t it amazing that in 2015, 1,660 Link Scheme volunteers covered an incredible 941,008 miles and completed just under 53,000 journeys and tasks to help people in need in their local communities?

We know this as every year, each of the 45 Link Schemes across the county completes a detailed audit of the journeys they make, the miles their volunteer drivers cover, the tasks and support they receive from their volunteers that has been carried out in the previous year. Collated by the Link Department at Community First, this annual audit gives an in-depth insight into the incredible breadth and volume of tasks and journeys Link Schemes carry out.

Some interesting trends identified in the 2015 audit include a county-wide increase of 23% in the number of journeys taking people to their GPs and a 26% drop in the number of journeys made to hospitals outside of the county.

We are very grateful to all the Link Schemes for taking the time to complete the audit, the high quality of the information obtained from them provides an invaluable insight into the enormous support that Link Schemes provide for those in need in our communities.

Community First is running a recruitment campaign for Community Transport volunteers
